Valkyries Hold Off Atlanta to Close Out Halloween Slate

The WNBA served up a single Halloween matchup, and the Golden State Valkyries made the most of home court, outlasting the Atlanta Dream 68 to 63. It was a tight, competitive affair from wire to wire, with neither team able to pull away for good. Golden State’s ability to hold on down the stretch proved to be the difference, giving them a five-point victory in what was the only game on the league’s Friday evening card.

The XO Sports model had a strong read on this one. The model correctly sided with the Valkyries, calling the home win with a probability just over 55 percent. The predicted final of 73 to 71 captured the competitive nature of the game well, even if the actual scoring came in a touch lower on both ends. One game, one correct call. A clean sheet for the model to close out October.
